A GROUP OF THREE 1960's VINTAGE APPLIQUE KITS

Some time ago, I bought, as a lot, a group of three vintage applique quilt kits. I finally got my act together yesterday and attempted to sort them out.

I appear to have two "single" bed size kits and one "double/queen" sized kit. All the tops are in crisp, pristine condition. no stains and all printed pieces accounted for. One of the photos has shadows that look like discolouration - this is not so - it's just that the light this morning is appalling - it's pouring rain!

The double/queen kit below is "Dogwood" Bucilla number 1587, and has been started with appliques basted under and pinned to the top. I had previously implied that the edge was to be scalloped, but the line for binding is straight - you could actually do either. There are appliques missing, but matching will not be a problem with the wonderful range of solids available in Kona cotton. This kit is priced at $250 + $20 for postage = $270 USD

Since I am rather confused about the vast number of applique pieces accompanying the two Pansy quilt tops (both sized at around 72 wide) and also there appears to be some confusion about leaflet numbers, I feel I can only sell these two kits together, and also cannot really guarantee that the applique pieces are the correct ones. The way I'm looking at it is that since the tops are so clearly printed it will be easy to draw templates for each top and the provided pieces of applique will be suitable to make an entirely different quilt top if they aren't suitable for the job at hand. So possibly you may get a bonus quilt top as well as the two you purchase.

The printed Lee Ward numbers on the tops are: 8-9002 which appears to be Perky Pansies for which there is a leaflet with a different number (I'm so confused!) 08-91028, and 08-9134 which also is a pansy pattern.

My price for this vintage quilt kit bundle is $300 + $35 for postage = $335 USD

I have two customers looking at these kits, one of whom has the right of first refusal. I will be waiting her choice and contacting both of you shortly. My first impulse in looking through these kits was to want to do them myself. I have to be realistic - too many ideas and not enough time as it is!!

GOOD EVENING PETER: YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE

Above are three images of Canadian First Nations artists works that I have recently interpreted in textile form or am planning to interpret. The first one is one I will likely do very soon, as the colours are calling to me and are so appealing.

The other two, Norval Morriseau's Boy with Birds and the Daphne Odjug - mother and child, Serenity, have already been sold, but can be repeated.

Below are three first nations hand painted drums which I would like to incorporate into a quilt using a black background - I think it will be striking.

Lastly, the piece I am currently working on: called Birds and Fish by Laford this will be displayed in an art gallery in Victoria British Columbia in April/May of this year.

Now to more traditional quilts: above is a brilliantly coloured quilt I made as a commission last summer - I have enough fabric left to repeat this one for you - it is approximately 40 inches square and would brighten a wall beautifully!

I mentioned amish-style quilts in an email to you - below are some examples and ideas.

If you look at too many quilts at once, it will usually cause you to become confused by the wide variety of options. These ideas will start things moving. Let me know if and when you wish to see more.
